If you want to go to the top of the world and feel the clouds, then Mamneth is a blessing for you. Mamneth or Maame Neth is really an unexplored place in Srinagar and very few people know the heavenly place. To reach Mamneth, one has to trek into the extremes of Dara and go through dense forests. The place is a must-visit for true adventure lovers as you have to cross dense forest and will find many water-crossings on the trek.

Mamneth is also considered as Mini-Gulmarg of Kashmir. There are many waterfalls on the way in which you can take a dip and get refreshed. The place is totally isolated and there are no shops, no cell-phone signal and you will find very few people and also those are Gujjars who live there. Once, you reach the top you will see many cattle and horses roaming in the open and many mud houses of the Gujjar community.

Mamneth gives you a wide view of the whole beautiful Srinagar City. From the top, one can see the Dal Lake, Dachigam National Park, Harwan Garden, Shalimar Bagh, SKAUST, and a lot more. Believe me, that view is a million-dollar view and that also from the clouds. It is very close to the Dachigam National Park, so you may encounter bears or maybe leopards. So it is advisable you never go alone and go in a Group and inform someone as there is no cell-phone signal. Also, it is important that you reach Mamneth in the early morning and depart before the sunset but you can camp if you want to.

Mamneth is located among the western Himlayas. It has a huge variation in altitude, ranging from 5500 ft to 14000 ft above mean sea level. The terrain has some gently sloping grasslands and sharp rocky outcrops and cliffs as the terrain is uneven. Some part of the area lies over the tree line and this region shows its own sort of normal magnificence with exposed stone mountains and cleft. You can also get a view of the Mahadev mountain from there.

How To Reach Mamneth

To reach Mamneth, one has to reach Dara and then trek for nearly 2 hours to reach Mamneth. The trek has no proper route and one has to go through dense forests and there are many water crossings on the trek. Very less information is available on the internet regarding Mamneth and only locals know about the place and the route of the trek. So it’s recommendable you take the help of a local and then trek. Otherwise, you may get lost in the dense forest, and there is no cell signal available.

I found a few numbers on a vlog by Imad Clicks who help you with the trek at very nominal charges.
