Tamanna Chani Deedaruk is about the different stages through which Sufis have to pass. The lyrics of the song explains how Sufis come out of today’s world and give up all the materialistic things. They also want the love of their beloved. The song is sung in different languages like Kashmiri, Persian and Urdu.

“Tamanna chaani deedaruk Chumo yemberzale bumbroo Phachis yan peth Lejis vichhnai Gajis chaani kaley bumbroo.”

“Karan mahjoor chu husnas gath vanan yaaras patho akh kath Ye dil deewan gow cxei path Beyis sith na raley bumbroo.”

“Kahaan maikhane ka darwaaza Ghalib aur kahaan vaaiz. Par itna jaantay hain kal voh jaata tha ke ham nikle”

“Hazaaron khwahishen aisi ke har khwahish pe dam nikle. Bohat niklay mere armaan, lekin phir bhi kam nikle”

“Khuda khud meer-e majlis bood andar laamakan Khusrau. Muhammad shamm-e mehfil bood shab jaay ki man boodam.”

“Nami danam chi manzil bood shab jaay ki man boodam. Baharsu raqs-e bismil bood shab jaay ki man boodam.”

  • “Tamanna chaani deedaruk Chumo yemberzale bumbroo Phachis yan peth Lejis vichhnai Gajis chaani kaley bumbroo.”

Here Sufi says beloved I desire for the sight just like yemberzal flower does for a bee. Then he says my eyes have always ached for seeing you since I bloomed.


  • “Karan mahjoor chu husnas gath vanan yaaras patho akh kath Ye dil deewan gow cxei path Beyis sith na raley bumbroo.”

In these lines, he says to his beloved that his heart has gone mad after her. Then he says that only you can claim the ardent passion of my heart.


  • “Kahaan maikhane ka darwaaza Ghalib aur kahaan vaaiz. Par itna jaantay hain kal voh jaata tha ke ham nikle”

Now he says although the preacher and the bar’s entrance are way apart, yet I saw him entering the bar as I was leaving it.


  • “Hazaaron khwahishen aisi ke har khwahish pe dam nikle. Bohat niklay mere armaan, lekin phir bhi kam nikle”

Here he says there are thousand of desires which are worth dying. Then he says I have realized many of them but still I yearn for more.


  • “Khuda khud meer-e majlis bood andar laamakan Khusrau. Muhammad shamm-e mehfil bood shab jaay ki man boodam.”

He realizes that God himself was the master of ceremonies in the heavenly court. Now he says that oh Khusrau (Eldest Son of Jahangir)where the face of the Prophet was shedding light like a candle.


  • “Nami danam chi manzil bood shab jaay ki man boodam. Baharsu raqs-e bismil bood shab jaay ki man boodam.”

At last, he says that he is still wondering which was the place where he was last night. All around him were half-slaughtered victims of love and full of sufferings.
